How good is the vocal remover or channel mixer, technically?

Vocal Remover uses center-channel cancellation (subtracting the mono-shared content between the left and right channels), a classic DSP technique, effective on many stereo mixes, but not a machine-learning source-separation model, so results vary by how a track was originally mixed.
