Frequently asked

Are my files uploaded to your servers?

No. Compression runs in this tab using your own CPU. Nothing is sent.

Why is my file barely smaller?

We recompress JPEG-encoded images, which is how most photos and color scans are stored. A file that is mostly text, or whose images use a different encoding, has little to squeeze.

Will text quality change?

No. Text and vectors are untouched. Only embedded JPEG images are downsampled.

Is there a size limit?

None imposed. Very large scans are limited by device memory; on phones expect roughly 200 MB.

Can I compress several files at once?

One at a time for now. Add the next file once the current one is done.

Does this work offline?

Yes, once the page has loaded.
