Frequently asked

Why can I only withdraw part of the corpus as a lump sum?

NPS regulations require at least 40% of the corpus to be used to purchase an annuity (which pays the monthly pension); the rest can be withdrawn as a lump sum, up to 60% tax-free under current rules.

How accurate is the monthly pension estimate?

It's a simplified estimate based on the annuity rate you enter, not actual annuity pricing from an insurer. Real pension amounts depend on the annuity provider, plan type, and prevailing rates at retirement.

Are NPS returns guaranteed?

No. NPS is market-linked (except for a small government-employee guaranteed scheme), so actual returns depend on the funds and asset allocation you choose.
