Where do the voices come from?
They're the voices already built into your browser and operating system, via the Web Speech API. The list varies by device, so you may see different options on a phone, Mac, or Windows PC.
Does this send my text anywhere?
No. Speech is synthesized entirely by your browser's built-in engine. Nothing you type is uploaded to a server.
Why don't I see any voices listed?
Some browsers load their voice list asynchronously, so it can take a moment after the page loads. If the list stays empty, your browser may not support the Web Speech API, or speech voices may not be installed on your device.
Can I change the reading speed?
Yes, the Rate slider goes from 0.5x (slower) to 2x (faster), with 1x being normal speed.
