Turn text into ASCII art
Type a word or short phrase and get back a large block-letter banner made of characters. Set the width and copy it, download it as .txt, or as an image.
Type something above to see it here.
A short word or phrase works best. This turns into a large block-letter banner.
Set how many characters wide the banner should be, and pick light-on-dark or dark-on-light.
Copy the raw text, or download it as a .txt file or a rendered PNG image.
Frequently asked
Are my files uploaded to your servers?
No. The text is rendered and converted entirely in this tab. Nothing is sent anywhere.
How does this work?
Your text is drawn once with a large bold system font, then sampled the same way a photo would be, mapping each glyph's shape onto a character density ramp.
Why does the text look squashed or stretched when I paste it elsewhere?
It's sized for a monospace font. Paste it somewhere using one (like a code block or terminal) and the proportions will look right.
Is there a limit on how much text I can enter?
It's capped at 40 characters. This tool is meant for short banners and headers, not full sentences.
Does this work offline?
Yes, once the page has loaded.
