Does this keep the text selectable?
No. PDF has no single operation that recolors arbitrary content uniformly, so each page is flattened to a grayscale image. Good for print or a smaller ink-friendly copy, but text can no longer be selected or searched afterward.
Will this make my file smaller?
Often, yes. Especially for color-heavy pages, though it depends on the source. A flattened grayscale image is frequently lighter than the original color content.
Does this work offline?
